Men without Women

Author: Haruki Murakami

Genre: Fiction, Short story collection

Format: Paperback

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a collection of seven short stories, each portraying the harsh loneliness faced by men who have lost or held onto women they loved.

This was my first experience reading a Murakami book but not my first exposure as I discovered his popularity when I watched the movie adaptation of Norwegian Wood.

I really enjoyed the stories but there were times the characters didn’t feel interesting enough and I expected the story to drag until Murakami started fleshing out their characterisation through past events and beautiful philosophical writing.
