The story revolves around Makepeace who lives in a Puritian community during the mid-17th century. On the surface, Makepeace looks like any normal twelve-year-old, however, on a nightly basis ghosts trickle in trying to possess her. After the unfortunate and sudden passing of her Mother Makepeace is sent off to her Father’s estranged family in Grizehayes by her relatives.

Unbeknownst to Makepeace’s revelation as to why she was brought there, she tried her best to blend in the shadows and steer clear of any potential mishaps. As time passes by, we see Makepeace come out of the shadows and reasons are unraveled behind why she is forbidden to leave the Grizehayes family house.
