Author: Brandon Sanderson
Genre: Fantasy, Adult
Format: Paperback
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I decided to not add a synopsis as this series needs no introduction but to have blind faith and trust that Brandon Sanderson will deliver, which he “shockingly” has.
Shadows of Self and Bands of Mourning were everything I hoped Alloys of law to be. With a touch of adventure, mystery, appearances of our favorite characters from the first era being prominent and important in this one.
I loved this book regardless of it not being on the same par as the first era. The characters are the heart of the story. The characters were fleshed out in the third book and the biggest shock was Steris. I was baffled by the contrast from our first introduction to her. The trio’s chemistry was fun and engaging. I did not expect Wayne’s and Melaan’s relationship to heat up as I felt Marasi warming up to him.
Waxillium is a cool character overall but his character development did not really progress compared to the rest of the main cast.
The arc wrapped up nicely and I loved the cameo appearances and the previous era’s metals.
I shall now return the #Cosmere and read ‘Arcanum Unbounded’ to check out the master’s scadrian story collection.
